Short Stories     

1st Prize (£500)             Gaby Pritchard                             Kite     

        Gaby Pritchard 


Gaby Pritchard has written two historical novels, which have just been signed by Little, Brown.  The first of these - His Last Duchess - will be published in August 2010, under Gaby's pen name of Gabrielle Kimm.  Gaby has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Chichester.  She lives and works near Chichester, writing, and teaching English at secondary school level.

 

2nd Prize (£250)           Martin Towers                             Whales 

         Martin Towers   

Martin Towers lives in Birmingham where he works as a housing officer.  Poetry was always his first love - but, in his own words, he didn't ever get very far.  He turned to writing short stories about 12 months ago and immediately felt at home with it.  He has had a good year since then with acceptances from several magazines as well as placings in other competitions.

 

3rd Prize (£150)            Jonathan Pinnock                         Return to Cairo   

          Jonathan Pinnock

Jonathan Pinnock was joint second prizewinner in our 2008 short story competition. These are Jonathan's own words,  "Since his last visit to Derby, Jonathan has won a few more prizes here and there and has had fiction and poetry published in several places, including Litro, Short Story Radio and Tales of the Decongested.  He is still married and his website is still at http://www.jonathanpinnock.com.
